Now that the holiday excitement is starting to wear off, what better way to spend a day than the movies? I am always looking for things to do with the kids on the weekend, especially something that all three will love and that doesn’t cost a fortune. Recently, we checked out the new theater in North Scottsdale, Studio Movie Grill. It is located on North Hayden Road, just south of Frank Lloyd Wright (click on this map). If you haven’t been there yet, it is one of those new, fancy theaters with big, comfy chairs and lots of room for the kids – plus they serve food.
On Saturday and Sundays at 11:00 a.m., Studio Movie Grill offers a $2 Kidtoons matinée great for the whole family. The one we saw was a series of short cartoons lasting about 90 minutes. The kids loved it. We also ordered lunch at our seats (they have a kid’s menu that is reasonably priced) . I figured, if I am getting such a deal on ticket prices, I can certainly buy lunch for the family too. The customer service was great throughout the whole movie – they are at your beck and call with the push of a button (which are strategically placed at every other seat if you want to seat your kids accordingly!). Plus it was so fun eating lunch while we watched the movie together as a family.
We will definitely be back to try other kid-friendly movies there. And maybe I can even get a date night with my husband to check out one of their non-kid movies!
